Thanks, Max. I have platinum, and see 6.0.7 in my vstplugins folder.
It does load the h-xxx plugs, so I'm pretty sure I'm ok, but I didn't experience and noticable decrease in N3 startup time.

It's PC Partner board. Find 35-xxxx-xx on your board and see here

Looks like you have the latest BIOS.

I have an older pc with a MicroStar MS-6163 motherboard.
The current BIOS is Award v4.51PG with the following date code 10/20/1998-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4KC-00. The original harddrive is only 8.4GB but I want to update the BIOS so I can install a larger hardrive. I am also planning to install Ubuntu as my OS and it requires a BIOS date from 2000 or later. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
The M761 is an Intel 440BX/ZX chipset motherboard and the M762V has 4 PCI, 3 ISA & 3 DIMMs. Would it be possible for you to post a picture of the motherboard?
just for your information: CS is Cable Select. this means that the drive's address (master or slave) is determined by the position on the IDE cable. as i already stated in another post here, i don't see a (realworld) practical use for CS and i don't encourage anyone using CS anyway.
back to your problem:
http://download.biosdriver.net/?id=26408&comp=Microtek&model=Microtek%20ScanMaker%209800XL%20(USB)%201.0.1.1
as you can see there are all settings you know from other manufacturers, too. additionally WD drives have a jumper setting you have to choose when you're using it as a single drive (e.g. no other drive on that IDE channel except the WD drive). so you might rather try the single drive setting than CS.
Bios version ?
Old versions sometimes had problems wich SDR-DDR changeovers.
The K7S5A does not like NoNameRAM, especially in older Bios versions.
Does it still work with PC-133 ?
What kind of RAM did you buy ?
-> Manufacturer/chips used

After your BIOS upgrade, are you reinstalled the OS?
A repair installation can be enought.

Oh. Well that's a non-starter right there. Who would ever run a Windoze box 24/7 ?!? It would soon be taken over as a 'bot and would rampage thru the house, terrifying pets and sending your banking information to far-away lands! All while consuming copious quantities of electricity.
I guess it isn't the cat's pajamas for Netflix viewing.

So far - so good. Got the unit installed and working on familiarizing myself with the controls...
...one thing I can say without question - this thing is built like a tank. It has a very solid, very professional feel. The ergonomics of the board is very well thought out, and I *love* being able to write surround automation from the touch screen.
