disable the floppy controller and boot from a cd rom. don't forget to set drive a to NONE.

i have several (e)eprom programmers. anyway, you can boot a board of your choice to dos, remove the bios chip while running, pop your bios chip in and fire up uniflash. keep in mind the different programming voltages and almost nothing can go wrong.

the cmos is cleared when you remove the battery or set the jumper to clear cmos. the cmos is some sram that only keeps its data if power if supplied. thus the battery. once the power source is gone, the data is gone, too.

my system is older than 3 years but after reflashing to the original bios everything is just fine so i know its not the battery. i have tried applying failsafe defaults which boots fine but i am having trouble figuring out which setting is causing it to hang after restarting. it is a First international am37L motherboard. i have 768 megs of ram and an athlon xp 2000 cpu. i guess it is just going to take a lot of time and trail and error to figure out which setting to disable.

Do you know if your hub is self-powered (plugged into the wall), and if so, is it set to self-powered mode (many hubs have a small switch)? You may want to experiment with this (also you may want to try plugging directly into the PC)

I've stopped trying p3-450 on SE440BX original. Too many issues for one reason or another. I think we've sold only a handful of them with P2-300 of which most are now written off so it was futile to try and find out what the exact problem was. May have been as simple as a weak power supply, I don't know.
