Hi.
I have Evesham 5815 laptop (MTC 8640).
My configuration is:
Pentium 4 3.06 GHz HT
MTC 8640 mainboard with SIS 645DX chipset
I want to lover my CPU's speed. The bios is made by Insyde systems but I can't access more advanced settings. I tried to find something in the internet but so far I didn't find anything. Is there any key combination to access them or simply just the manufacturer thought it's best to hide it from users.
Does anyone have any information how can I downspeed my CPU? The fan's noise is anoying and I don't use even half of it's power.
Hi Rainbow
Sorry i didn't explain my last post.
the VX2_V35c bios is a specific one for MBs with an NSC IO chip dated 1997
Mine has copyright dates of 1994+1995 on its NSC IO chip.
As to the actual date of my motheboard, who knows? it's a family heirloom
Cheers
Gersh
Just before it rebooted i had a black box apear for a few seconds saying something about no sis or sid controllers? I have no idea what that is lol lol.
Well since i have been running that new bios my laptop does not seem to heat up so much. I am not sure if its me knowing there is something new or it is really running cooler
Hi, is there anyone that is familiar with PC Diagnostic Cards and how to read them?
Thanks

No, no succes. however I discovered it is indeed a Chaintech 6AJA4, but I noticed in the bios it said Legacy sound on-board, isn't this the AC97 sound dirver?
And if so, can someone post it here cause I can't download it from the chaintech website.
Help - I have an MSI MS-6119 MB used as a DVD player. I need big hard drives, and I am trying to add Maxtor 120 GB drives to the system.
There are 2 BIOS options available to me, both with a catch.
1 - Version W6119MS V2.9 082100, shown as 08/03/2000-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4AC-00 supports 133 MHz front side bus (needed for my 733MHz PIII) but won't boot with big drives, and
2- version W6119MS V2.10 082100, shown as 08/21/2000-i440BX-W977-2A69KM4AC-00 supports only a 100 MHz front side bus and so drives my CPU only as a 550MHz PII but does recognise big drives.
SO - MSI won't help (I have tried them) and I need a BIOS revision to the 2.9 version with 133 MHz FSB support so it will also support big 120Gb drives. Can anyone help me?
Cheers, Norm, Canberra, Australia
I did one better.
I disabled the primary slave in the bios and the error message is gone at bootup. Since I'm running 2k, the O/S sees both drives ok. So far so good........
Some incompatability between the Maxtor and the Quantum.
Is your computer totally dead or does it still beep or does it show flopp activity ?
What K7N2 model do (did) you have and what Bios did you try to flash ?
