First download and install Phoenix BIOS Editor 2.2.01
http://download.biosdriver.net/?id=1550&comp=AOpen&model=ao5d332.exe%202001-10-01

Then start Phoenix Editor and open up the *.wph-Data.

All files will be extracted in this folder:
C:\Program Files\Phoenix Technologies Ltd\BIOS Editor\TEMP

Open up BIOSCOD1.ROM in a Hex-Editor and find this lines

First Block: Vendor ID

Second Block: Device ID

Third and fourth block: Subsys ID

This card are officaly supported by Hewlett Packard. The Hex-Blocks are allways block backward. For Example:

BIOS: E414

Reality: 14E4

Now you must find out the Vendor, Device and Subsys-ID of your new card. A other notebook is recommedable to build it in and check the Device Manager inside Windows XP to find out the id?s. Change one string of the Id?s to enable your card.

I?m not sure but the green marked block can be!!! A possibilty to deactivate the whitelist complete but i can?t check this because my notebook is at repair. Change it to F8 when you are keen to experiment and able to fix a bios crash.

Change one Value in the Phoenix Editor and make it regrogressive. Now you are able to save the new BIOS. Press CTRL + U and save it to a new image.

Flash the new image with Winphlash (use google) or use the enclosed flasher when it works.

I?M NOT ACCOUNTABLE FOR DAMAGES ON YOUR NOTEBOOK OR FAILED BIOS FLASHES!!! BIOS HACKING IS ALLWAYS A COMPLEX WORK AND IS DANGOURES!!! WHEN YOU ARE NOT EXPERIENCED ENOUGH DO NOT MAKE ANY EDITS!!!

Hey Rob,

no problem. I ripped the files from CasadeRR and consider them as one of my reference "CDs" for mastering. It would of course be great to have it with maximum quality, still.

You??ve lost a RAID ?!? That??s a big pain in the ass. Sorry to hear that.

Have a great time !
Matthias

This is just an example. You might want to check though that it's not in your distribution's repositories first. If it is, then use the command for that package manager.

FYI: kbuildsycoca has been a bone of contention for a few since KDE4.

@ masinick - Thats exactly how I have it set up as I already had Firefox installed on my Vista partition so I use the same profile for both. It means that if I add a new book mark or save a new password that I can access it from either one.

I am afraid I am not sure what "desktop" are you referring to; a Desktop PC or the Windows Desktop.
I assume it was the first.

I have extra VGA cards, extra 10/base-t cards, extra modems, sound cards, and of course USB, PS2, Audio, COM, & VGA cables.

can't I employ all these together to achieve a multiuser scenario.

say for example, the main PC has 3 vga, 3 sound output, & 3 NICs. And a shared DSL connection.

first user = Word Processing or Office application
2nd user = Reading/writing POP3 e-mail or browsing the net
3rd user = Playing a game or some multimedia application

of course all of whom should be able to access the DSL net connection on demand. (I know ICS is another matter but I am just giving an example and DSL is not the matter at hand)

surely it would be a waste of money to go buy even more network cards if I can use the ones I have to achieve the same result. That is unless there is some benefits for having a VNC that I am not seeing here.

If you could elaborate on how this would work in an alternative VNC solution?

thanks

Thank You.
That is very close except there is 1 difference.
My board has 3 jumpers available on a J18
but there is no J13 with 2 jumpers. That should be the core voltage but I don't want to burn out my MMX processor. If I don't get any response I will try the Jumpers for J13 the same as J18.
All the other jumpers look identical.
